JE 1.0 Info
A 20-week introduction to Judaism class for Jews and non-Jews, couples and singles, who are interested in exploring the role of Jewish identity in their lives. We address both the joys of Judaism (the special pleasures in living a Jewish life and celebrating with family and community), as well as the oys (antisemitism).
Our topics relate to all of the basics of Judaism, including God, prayer, synagogue, beliefs, Shabbat and other holidays, lifecycle events, Israel, ethics and values, Bible, Jewish peoplehood, and history. This experiential class features field trips to a variety of synagogues for Shabbat, rabbis from the different denominations as guest speakers, tours of The Breman Jewish Museum, and a tour of the community mikveh (ritual bath) at Congregation B’nai Torah. This course serves as a prerequisite for conversion with many of the rabbis in the Atlanta community, although conversion is NOT a requirement of the class.
Fee: $245 per person, $450 for a couple. You may pay by check at the first class. The same class is offered on Sunday mornings (JE 1.0F) and Tuesday evenings (JE 1.0G).
